It wasnt my thing - confusing and annoying

This was my first time to Maui with my wife. All we can say is wow. This app was well worth the 10 bucks. We just plugged in the aux port and had the best tour and information from an application. Not a local, not a tour guide. We were able to travel as slow or as fast as we wanted and this app kept up as we drove around the entire island. This app changed the game on guides. Buy this app. Turn it on... Listen and enjoy.

The guy speaking was interesting and funny at times! Lots of Hawaiian history and great suggestions for places to go. Really loved this app!

We used this app extensively while driving around Maui. We preferred listening to the app instead of the radio-even when we were just out shopping or running errands. We particularly liked that the narrative on the road to Hana is different than the narrative on the return trip-on the same road! Suggested improvements: add dialog for southern Hana route and other off-the-beaten path drives. Great app!

What a great app! It works the best if your are able to play through the car stereo and a charge cord is a must because it does drain a battery. I downloaded the full Maui tour version and it worked great. The kids asked me to turn it on wherever we went because they enjoyed learning about the history of Hawaii as well as tips for places to stop to check out. Easy to listen to and entertaining as well. A must have, especially if it is your first time to Maui.

Great information. The family loved hearing what was around the next bend in the road. The only downfall was lack of web service for about the middle third of the road to Hana (Verizon).

This was our third ride on the Road to Hana and also Hakeakkala, the first two being on organized tours. The app was like having a tour guide in the car! It allowed us to stop when we wanted and re-start at any time. We also learned a lot about the history of Maui. We strongly recommend!

Really useful if you are driving around Maui on your own, especially for Hana. Some information is out of date, but it didnt matter too much.

We are loving this app! Bought the full island version and it just knows where we are and tells us about it. Missed Lindberghs grave, tho...

We used this when we did the Road to Hana tour. It was like the tour guide was with us in the car. Great commentary and very informative. Looking forward to using it for the rest of our Maui trip!

We just used the Maui gypsy app. It is a good app. The only problem that we encountered was the guys voice giving the commentary was too low volumed, even when we tried to increase it to max. WE ended up using the Ipad at the back row of the car and the Iphone in the front of the car ( even then only one person could clearly hear it if they balanced the phone on the shoulder! ) for listening to the commentary. When the womans voice came on, it was loud and clear and we had no issues. Unfortunately, the guys voice ( sounded like Samuel Jackson) predominated the Maui commentary. I am not sure if others had the issue, but something to correct to make it easier for other users.

We spent 12 days in Maui in March. This app more than paid for itself. I downloaded it before we drove to Hana and it paired with the Bluetooth in our rental car. Along the way it would give us some history and other tips about what we were approaching, where to park and other useful bits of information. Theres a lot we would have missed without this app!

Great app! Felt like we had hired a local tour guide. Pointed out interesting facts we wouldnt have known otherwise. I definitely recommend it!

What a great app! My wife and I had a week in Maui, and bought this app before we set out on the road to Hana. So glad we got the full version. We ended up using it the rest of our trip, as we visited Haleakala, Piai, Lahaina, and Wailea. We gave our digital guides names ("Steve" and "Julie") which added to the conversational feel of their tours. Two improvements I would suggest: allow music to play like other GPS apps, and allow the screen to shut off without pausing the app. But those two, minor issues aside, the app is a great tool for discovering Maui. Highly recommend it!

I NEVER buy apps and so glad I did buy this one!!! My husband and I were in Maui for the first time and didnt want to spend our time with tour guides. We found this app in a magazine with great reviews and trusted it... So glad we did!! The virtual tour guides were exactly what we wanted on our on adventure at our own pace. Still lots to see for the rest of our vacation and I cant wait!!

Brought the Oahu App and thought it was Fantastic. Maui App was a disaster. The narratives would not come up when locations were near. I think because the app showed that our location was in the ocean. This was a disaster. Complete zero.

First, 1 piece of advice: Dont buy the app that contains just one of the tours. For a bit more money you can get this one, which includes all the Maui tours plus info between the tours. Then you get helpful info almost anywhere you go on Maui. Im not one to write reviews, but I could not stay silent on this one. This app really enhanced our vacation. It was very helpful, informative, and quite entertaining. I listen to a LOT of audiobooks, so I know what I am talking about when I say this narrator is top notch! He felt like a friend of the family by the time we left Maui. The authors really know the island, and their advice on where to stop and how to best go about seeing things helped a lot. During times when there was nothing to point out, he provides some great historic backstory on the island and the sites we are seeing. Hes quite funny, too. Do yourself a favor and go download this now. I guarantee you will not regret it.

I never buy apps or write reviews, but could not go without recommending this app to everyone going to Maui. It is like your personal tour guide that knows everything about Maui riding in the car with you. Had a rental car with USB which charged the phone and played app through car speakers, which was awesome. It is also so user friendly. It tracks and automatically starts the tour wherever you are I cant imagine going to Maui without it. So worth the money.
